Hastings & Bexhill Vets XV took part in a tournament Saturday 13.10.07 at Crowborough RFC.
Vets come in third place.
1st game
H&B Vs Eastbourne 3rd team
H&B had a good start a little slow after the bus-ride. Eastbourne made good ground as the H&B pack was missing the normal front 5 players. It seems that every time these teams meet it's a hard fought to the final whistle and this was no different game ending 7-7 draw.
2nd game
H&B Vs Crowborough Vets
Going to be the hardest team to play on the day this was also the best game to watch, Crowborough having a kicker that took and got three conversions and also kicked 2 penalties giving them 12 of their points. The score looks a lot worse than the game H&B losing 26-7 the only try coming from Brian McNeilly and a converted by peter Eames.
3rd game
H&B Vs Hellingly
Hellingly sort a man was given a winger to make up the full team. the game was played out with H&B scoring trys from Mick Ellis and Matt Bumpus. Hellingly kept up the pressure though the game but failed to score. H&B win at 14-0
4th game
H&B Vs Uckfield Vets
A game to far for H&B having to wait to start for an hour. stiff joints on both side resulted in a slow game no-one really making head way. Uckfield found themselves with a little space and used it well H&B failed to reply and lost 7-0. Looking I think stiffness was the winner.
A great day out for the Team who then when back the clubhouse to see England beat France.
