The coldest day so far this season seen H&B start a little slow, may be the cold hands causing a scrum early on, taken against the head the H&B pack started to warm and the ball was taken quickly to the Cinque Ports line only to be dropped as grounding by Matt Dawes. Clearing their lines Cinque Ports pushed forward with their number 10 making a good break. The ball was turned by H&B and a boot placed the line-out on the Ports 22-meter line again they went to the line a rolling maul steering ever closer, then from base of the maul came the one and only Brian McNeilly taking on the Cinque Ports defence driving low to get over and open scoring at 5-0.

Soon after the inside centre Peter Eames pulled up injured, again partly due to the cold, he was replaced by Captain Phil Begg. The play remained slow going with most in the Cinque Ports half. It wasn't long until the constant pressure enabled the twinkle toed Begg to pirouette over the line for the second try 10-0 he then converted this to make it 12-0.
H&B again got a rolling maul going that took them just over the 10 meter line before going to ground, a pass back to his stand off and a kick to open space seen the H&B full-back Murrey Wilmington tack off down the right wing, the bounce of the ball taking away a possible try as the Ports full-back touched down resulting in a 22 drop-out.
Time running out in the first half and one more push from the Hastings pack seen old-timer Duncan Dobson pick-up and dummied the defensive diving over like the graceful salmon working up stream to sporne. 17-0

The second half started and Cinque Ports broke-out their full-back Spencer Ellis chipping over and then getting the ball out the right winger, but failed to make the H&B line.
A penalty give Ports a chance to get on the score card thanks to the boot of their number 10. 19-3. This was replied to quickly the next try coming from Dave Hirst the older statesman in the backs gliding gazelle like down the wing to cross the line in the corner this was again converted by Phil Begg from the touchline 26-3.
H&B brought on two sub's Robbie Simmons to replace Brian McNeilly, Simon Mapstone to replace Rodger Kingston.


	Turn-over by Cinque Ports

This help keep the pressure on and paid dividends when from a ruck the ball was shifted quickly by Ady Evans to Mick Ellis with a scissor back inside to Simmons's, steaming over the line Begg again adding the extra 2 points 33-3.
H&B continued to work the ball well and although Cinque Ports made some good runs didn't put together any scoring play. The last try of the game came from Ady Evans taking a quick penalty inside the Ports 22 meter-line going through the Cinque Ports game-line to touch down under the posts, converted by Begg 40-3.
