H & B 2nds gave a valiant display against league leaders Heathfield on a bright but cold afternoon at William Parker School on Saturday.
The majority of the first half was played in H & B's 22 and only some stout defending from H & B's youngster's restricted Heathfield's dominance being turned into points.
It was only when H & B went down to 14 men, through one of many dubious decisions made by the gentleman with the whistle, that Heathfield made any headway on the scoresheet through a try by their forwards.
The try was converted. The score remained 7-0 until half time and H & B had slightly more attacking possession in the second half but couldn't make any inroads past the Heathfield defence.
Throughout the game Robbie Simmons, Ryan Madigan, Josh Grainger and Anthony Barber kept tackling and carrying the ball to the opposition but H & B couldn't breach their opponents.
It was again credit to H & B's defensive play that they only restricted the opposition to two penalty kicks in the second half. H & B remain near to the top of the table and will remain there if they continue to play with the same spirit as they showed on Saturday.
